Apple expects problems with the supply of its iPhone 14

This means that customers who want to indulge in the latest generation of Apple smartphones should expect “longer waiting times to receive their new products.”

Covid-19 restrictions have temporarily affected the main iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max assembly plant in Zhengzhou, China. The plant is currently operating at a significantly reduced capacity. As we have done during the Covid-19 pandemic, we are paying particular attention to the health and safety of employees in our supply chain. We continue to see strong demand for the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. However, we are now expecting lower shipments of the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max than we expected, and customers will have to wait longer to receive their new products.

What to look out for in the run-up to Christmas

Many expected a slowdown in supplies after the Chinese government ordered a week-long lockdown of Foxconn’s factory site. The measure, taken as part of the government’s “Zero Covid”approach, affects the plant that makes four of five new Apple smartphones. According to numerous reports, overall iPhone production could be reduced by 30%.

Released in September, the iPhone 14 represents a relatively small improvement over the previous model. The main change was the removal of US-only SIM support and the arrival of Dynamic Island on the iPhone 14 Pro. As of this writing, iPhone 14 Pro or 14 Pro Max can take up to 4 to 6 weeks to ship.
