Apple raises prices for AirPods Max, AirPods Pro and 3rd generation AirPods in India

Today, Apple has silently raised the prices of four new Apple audio products in India. The company has increased the prices of three popular AirPods, as well as its most premium AirPods Max headphones. Apple’s 3rd generation AirPods are now Rs 2,000 more and the 3rd generation AirPods Pro are Rs 1,400 more, finally Apple’s AirPods Max have been raised by a whopping Rs 7,100 in India.

While the exact reason for the price increase has yet to be revealed, one reason could be the increase in import duties on headphones and earphones that was announced in the Union budget a few weeks ago. In accordance with the new budget for this fiscal year (2022-2023), customs duties on headphones have been increased from 15% to 20%. And because of this, the prices of these headphones in India have risen. In addition to headphones, customs duties have also increased on speakers.

This new price for Apple AirPods was first spotted by tipster Abhishek Yadav, and for now, it looks like the changes are only reflected on Apple’s website. Let’s take a closer look at the new prices for AirPods Max, AirPods Pro 3rd Gen, and AirPods 3rd Gen.

As previously stated, these changes are currently only reflected on Apple’s website, with e-commerce partners such as Amazon and Flipkart listing previous pricing for others as of this writing. Apple’s website also makes it clear that these new prices are MPRs, which means the sale price on third-party sites and stores may be slightly cheaper.
