Apple releases macOS Monterey 12.5, watchOS 8.7 and iOS, iPadOS and tvOS 15.6

Apple releases macOS Monterey 12.5, watchOS 8.7 and iOS, iPadOS and tvOS 15.6

This week, Apple released software updates for all of its platforms, including iOS 15.6, iPadOS 15.6, macOS Monterey 12.5, watchOS 8.7, tvOS 15.6, and HomePod software version 15.6.

With iOS 16 and its peers only a couple of months away, these updates don’t add any major new features. The most notable new feature in iOS 15.6, iPadOS 15.6, and macOS 12.5 this week is the ability to pause, rewind, fast forward, or restart a sports game that’s already in progress. In addition, Siri can now recognize Chinese, Cantonese, and Japanese voices on HomePod.

Apple says iOS and iPadOS 15.6 fixes an issue with accurately displaying device storage information in the Settings app and improves performance for Braille devices when using Mail. Exclusively on the iPadOS side, an issue that caused the sixth generation iPad mini to not detect USB-C accessories has also been fixed. On all applicable platforms, Apple claims to have fixed “an issue in Safari that could cause a tab to return to the previous page.”

Apple did not list fixes or line item changes for watchOS or tvOS. All updates should already be available on all supported devices.
