ASUS has created a DDR5 adapter for DDR4 RAM modules

ASUS introduces an adapter for installing DDR4 on a DDR5 motherboard. Availability date and price are not yet known.

The current shortage of microchips is affecting many industries. We’re not just talking about chips like processors or SoCs that are used in our smartphones, but anything that requires a microchip to work, like cameras. This also includes RAM. That’s why it can be hard to find DDR5 RAM.

ASUS Introduces an Adapter to Install DDR4 on a DDR5 Motherboard

Today, ASUS is introducing an interesting solution, an adapter that allows DDR4 RAM to be inserted into a motherboard that requires DDR5, as is the case with the new Z69, which is first thought of and designed for DDR5 for desktops.

Some of you may be wondering why it’s not possible to just plug a DDR4 RAM module into the motherboard. This is because some entry-level motherboards that natively support DDR4 and DDR5, except for high-end motherboards, especially for gaming, only support DDR5. In addition, due to the architecture of the card itself, as well as the power supply, the DDR5 motherboard does not have the material ability to manage the power of the DDR4 module. This is the problem that the ASUS adapter wants to solve.

Availability date and price not yet known

Let’s be clear, this adapter will not give your DDR4 DDR5 properties, rather, you should consider the accessory as a temporary solution to allow you to use your existing DDR4 while you wait until you find DDR5. That being said, ASUS has yet to launch marketing for its adapter, and it’s unclear if the company intends to do so, let alone when. To be continued!
