Battlefield 2042 is free to play on Steam this weekend
The latest installment in the Battlefield franchise released by EA Sports, Battlefield 2042 has announced a free-to-play weekend. The game is available for free on the Steam store right now, which means the event is for PC gamers only. It starts today, December 17th at 10:00 AM PT and will run until December 20th. A free-to-play weekend could be important for the game, given its lackluster performance since launch and a decline in the number of players spending time playing the game. The free access offer could attract more players to at least try out the game.
Speaking of free games, Activision Call of Duty: Vanguard is also available for free for the next six days starting December 16th. Unlike Battlefield, COD: Vanguard will only allow players to access the multiplayer mode. COD is also available on multiple platforms including PC and Xbox.
Battlefield 2042 Free to Play Details
To play Battlefield 2042 for free, you’ll need a Steam account. You will also need to download the Steam client and download the game. Free-to-play access lasts only three days, so you will have to make a decision quickly. After one of the worst launches in a long time, it looks like EA is counting on more players to buy the game once they’ve tried it.
Battlefield 2042 hasn’t received the best reception since launch, with many reviews saying the game feels rushed. In addition, after downloading the game, gamers encountered a number of problems, and many of them turned to the Internet for a refund. EA is likely to give big discounts on the game in the future given that not many players buy the game at the moment.
However, Battlefield 2042 does have a Battlefield Portal mode that some players are interested in. There is also a 64-player conquest mode, and the free weekend will allow players to try out these modes.
