Battlefield 2042 Will Have More Tanks On PC And PS5 And Xbox Series X/S At Launch, Plus Other Changes From Open Beta
The Battlefield 2042 Open Beta has been a pretty big deal considering the delay and the sheer amount of hype that has kept the game going since its great trailer. The open beta, despite being a bit rough around the edges, was still quite successful for DICE as players seemed to enjoy the overall experience and saw huge potential after launch.
DICE has addressed a lot of feedback in a blog post detailing the changes players can expect from the Battlefield 2042 Open Beta at launch. Among the biggest changes is that there will be more tanks on the map for PC and next-gen consoles. In addition, DICE also revealed the final 5 Specialists that will be in the game at launch, bringing the total to 10.
Battlefield 2042 Open Beta Feedback Reviewed by DICE
Open beta testing usually allows developers to gather feedback directly from players to ensure the game is ready to launch. Battlefield 2042, being one of the biggest releases of the year, saw a huge amount of players tune into the beta and thus DICE was able to get a solid response. Some of them will be covered in the launch build, for example:
- Increased the number of tanks you will experience in the Orbital. It went from 4 to 8 on PC, Xbox Series X | S and PlayStation 5.
- Made changes to movement, added strafe input for sliding, added storage capability on moving objects, and reduced spam when jumping.
- Added nearby grenade indicator.
- Entry and exit animations are now shorter and some have been removed entirely.
- Elevators have been fixed so you don’t see unusual behavior with doors.
Specialists
Finally, DICE has introduced 5 new specialists that will significantly change the situation in the game. Essentially, Specialists are Operators with unique specializations and traits that are an improvement on the Classic Classic Battlefield system. The specialist system essentially allows individual players to have a greater impact on the game as a whole.
DICE has taken into account feedback that specialists are inadvertently negatively impacting team performance. The developers addressed this issue by including improvements to the user interface, identification between friendly and enemy players, and in-game team communication that were not present in the open beta.
