Baymax: Big Hero 6 spin-off

Disney presents Baymax.

After the US-Japanese animated series Big Hero 6: The Series, which was already a sequel to the animated feature film Big Hero 6, Walt Disney Pictures decided to focus on the affable inflatable robot and the inimitable caregiver companion at Baymax. In the city of San Fransokyo, he is on a mission to help others, but the results are not always correct.

“I thought it would be fun to do an episode where Baymax interacts with normal people,” said director and animator Don Hall. “In each of our six episodes, Baymax just wants to help someone – and quite often that person doesn’t want to be helped. He sets out to solve a physical problem he has identified, and in the process he reaches a deeper level that is more emotional and can be almost transformative in the role.”

Baymax will air exclusively on the Disney+ streaming platform on June 29th.

Baymax episodes were directed by Dean Wellins (episodes 1, 2, 6), Lissa Treiman (episode 3), Dan Abraham (episode 4) and Mark Kennedy (episode 5). Written by Cirocco Dunlap. Scott Adsit returned as the voice of Baymax. Ryan Potter, Maya Rudolph, Emily Kuroda, Lilimar, Zeno Robinson and Jabuki Young-White complete the voice.
