Free Duolingo Math App Coming to iOS
The Duolingo Math mobile app is finally available for iOS and is only available in English for now.
Duolingo is no longer just about learning a new language. The company has indeed just published Duolingo Math for iOS, more than a year after the app was first unveiled. Naturally, Duolingo Math has a lot in common with the language learning platform, including colorful animations and interactive exercises with a healthy dose of gamification.
The Duolingo Math mobile app is finally available
The app consists of two main components: an entry-level math program that uses the lessons learned by a child in different school years, and brain training exercises for adults with more complex subjects and an emphasis on improving mental abilities in math. The first covers aspects such as multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, geometry, measurements, etc. Brain training, on the other hand, covers similar topics at a higher level, with more complex exercises. Duolingo hopes people can learn some really useful things, like converting ounces to pounds.
On iOS and English only, for now
Duolingo has done extensive research on math anxiety. According to the results, 93% of adults living in the United States experienced some form of math anxiety, and only half of high school students experienced “very high anxiety.”With this app, the company wants to make math “accessible and fun” for everyone.
Duolingo Math is far from the only mobile app for learning math, but the very name Duolingo can appeal to many users. Like Khan Academy, Duolingo Math is free. The app is available for iPhone, iPad, and select iPod Touch models, and unfortunately is currently only available in English. The company has not specified when the Android version will be available. To be continued!
