Bethesda will close the launcher and move all data to Steam
Bethesda just announced that they are ditching the Bethesda.net Launcher and moving to Steam. This means players will be able to transfer both their games and wallet to their Steam account.
Launcher allowed players to play Bethesda games on PC. From the beginning of April, players will be able to transfer their games and walls to their Steam account. The publisher reiterates that players will not lose anything from their account and everything will be transferred to Steam instead.
This includes save files, and only a few titles require manual transfer. To manually transfer save files to Steam, players will use their Bethesda.net account to sign in and play. The account will not be lost and will still be available on their website and in the game.
Bethesda is shutting down its launcher on PC
Bethesda encourages players to begin migrating as soon as possible and assures them that their Bethesda.net Launcher games will be available before May. As far as how this will work on Steam, every game purchased by a player on the Bethesda.net Launcher will be available to the player for free on Steam.
Beginning in May, players will no longer be able to play or access their games from the Bethesda Launcher. However, even after moving to Steam, many of the publisher’s games will require players to have a Bethesda.net account. This will allow players to retain access to services including game modes, in-game items such as skins, and exclusive news and updates.
Any in-game virtual currency purchased by players will also be transferred to Steam upon completion of the transfer process. There was no specific indication from the publisher as to why he chose to go down this path, but perhaps more information will be made public at a later date.
