Calendar activities can’t be added until the 31st due to a Siri problem in iOS 16.4.1.

Users who rely on their voice to set Calendar appointments but have vision impairments have a problem with accessibility due to an alleged Siri bug in iOS 16.4.1.

  • When attempting to schedule specific appointments with your voice in Apple’s standard Calendar app, a Siri bug in iOS 16.4.1 is reportedly causing problems.
  • When using Siri to make an event on the 31st, it is automatically changed to the 30th of the month, and users are unable to amend the error verbally.
  • People with vision impairments may find it difficult to manually correct the event date in the Calendar app due to the bug, which is especially inconvenient for them.

Siri on iOS 16.4.1 can have a Calendar issue.

According to AppleInsider, the problem was brought up on the Tech Talk radio show after a blind caller voiced his concern over the previously undisclosed issue.

The caller complained that when scheduling an event with Siri on the last day of any month with 31 days, the event date is automatically changed to the 30th.

Even if the error is simple to correct, changing the appointment date by hand requires opening the Calendar app. This issue is supposedly a known one, and according to Apple’s support teams, it only affects iOS 16.4.1 and iPadOS 16.4.1.

This problem is not present in the beta version of iOS 16.5.

Hey Siri, do I have anything scheduled on the 31st?

When I asked Siri to set a Calendar event for May 31st on iOS 16.4.1 and iPadOS 16.4.1, it remained there and did not change to May 30th as I had hoped it would. Users of iOS 16.4.1 may not all be affected by this problem. We were unable to reproduce the bug on macOS Ventura 13.3.1 either.

If your vision is good, this is not a major deal. But consider if you were blind and relied on Siri to make appointments, then you made a mistake and had to use VoiceOVer to navigate the Calendar app. This poses a serious accessibility issue for individuals with vision impairments.

It will probably be fixed by Apple in a future software update.
