Call of Duty: Activision is decorating Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2
Activision has announced two new Call of Duty games.
Developed from the ground up by Infinity Ward using a new graphics engine, Call of Duty 2022 will be the sequel to Modern Warfare 2019, and Call of Duty Warzone 2022 is a massive evolution of the battle royale genre with a brand new playable area and a new sandbox mode.
A week earlier, US publisher Activision told investors, “Our teams are working on the most ambitious project in franchise history that leverages cutting-edge innovation and a broadly compelling franchise structure. The expansion of the studios has added development resources around the world, while plans continue for real-time operations and new unannounced games in the Call of Duty universe. ”
Microsoft confirms that Call of Duty will remain a cross-platform license and may even open up for the Nintendo Switch.
In an interview with CNBC, Microsoft President Brad Smith clarified that despite the takeover of Activision Blizzard, the company’s future games will be released on PlayStation consoles: that great games like Activision Blizzard’s Call of Duty today will still be available on Sony’s PlayStation.
We would like to port them to Nintendo devices. We would like to add other popular games from Activision Blizzard and make sure they are still available on PlayStation and Nintendo. The first acquisition made after Satya Nadella became CEO was Minecraft.
This was in September 2014. And what we’ve done with this acquisition is, I think, a clear indication of what we hope to do if we acquire Activision Blizzard. Namely, investing even more in innovation, bringing it to more people, porting it to more platforms, making it even more useful and hopefully delicious for the people who use it. To be clear, Microsoft will continue to make Call of Duty and other popular Activision Blizzard games available for PlayStation until the end of any existing agreements with Activision.
And we have made a commitment to Sony to also make them available for PlayStation after the end of the existing agreement and in the future, so that Sony fans can continue to enjoy their favorite games.“
