CES 2022 to close a day early due to Covid-19
CES 2022 has been shortened by one day, with doors open from January 4 to 7, 2022.
After learning about the cancellation of the presence of a number of technology giants at CES 2022, the organizers announce that the event will close a day earlier than usual. The Consumer Technology Association (CTA) said that CES 2022 will take place from January 5 to 7, 2022, which will be “an additional safety measure in addition to the current health protocols that have been put in place.”January 3 and 4 will be reserved for the media, where there will be many press conferences and other keynote speeches.
CES 2022 shortened by one day

The CTA also recently announced that it will offer Covid-19 detection tests to Abbott BinaxNOW when collecting badges. The association also asks participants to take a rapid test 24 hours before arrival. If someone has symptoms, the CTA advises reporting them to a health facility for testing. The organization also explains that it provides PR tests to all members who need them before they leave Las Vegas and return home.
Last week, companies such as Amazon, Google, Intel, Lenovo, Meta and many more canceled their participation in CES 2022. As part of the exciting announcements, the CTA explained that more than 2,200 companies will also be present in Vegas. another 143 in the last two weeks.
Doors will be open from 4 to 7 January 2022.
CTA CEO Gary Shapiro defended the physical event decision as the omicron variant dramatically increases infections in many countries around the world. “As one of the biggest technology events, CES remains the same, a place to come together to showcase our products and discuss what will make our lives better. […] We have reduced the event to three to three days and have implemented comprehensive health measures for the safety of all involved.” Gary Shapiro also explained that the main reason for not canceling the event is that many small businesses rely heavily on the event to launch their products. CES 2021 was completely virtual.
“We’re all taking risks,”he recently told the Las Vegas Review-Journal. “But without risk, there is no innovation.”
