Apple Silicon M3 chip can be engraved by TSMC at 3nm
The Apple M3 chip is due to be engraved with 3nm TSMC and will appear in the first devices in 2023.
First impressions and early tests of the Apple M1 and M1 Max and M1 Pro chips have been overwhelmingly positive. In fact, even if you don’t have to be a fan of the Cupertino company’s products and its ecosystem, it’s still very interesting to see what Apple Silicon chips and future chips are capable of as the Apple brand continues to develop its technologies.
Apple M3 chip must be engraved by TSMC at 3nm
That being said, the M3 line could really mean a breakthrough. Indeed, if the DigiTimes report is to be believed, TSMC has started a pilot chip production phase with a 3nm etch process, and ramp-up is likely to begin in 2023. Although we do not know the functionality of this M3. The chip can offer a smaller write process which has many benefits including faster speed and better power management.
And the first devices will appear in 2023.
This is not to say that the M2 chip currently expected in 2022 will be bad or uninteresting, but a 3nm engraved chip will be much more promising. The Cupertino-based company was also supposed to use a 3nm chip for its iPhones, but a number of issues meant this would certainly not be possible until 2023. So it’s not surprising that this matches the M3’s launch date. chip in 3 nm.
Obviously, we will treat this information with distrust, as a mere rumor, especially since 2023 is still relatively far away. In any case, such a 3 nm engraved chip should be very interesting. There is no doubt that there will be many benefits. To be continued!
