Dell Concept Luna makes it easy to repair and recycle laptops

Dell introduces the Luna concept – a laptop that is easier to repair and recycle – a project full of great ideas.

When a business develops any product, the most important thing is that the end result works and works as it should. However, sometimes, in order to save time and costs, some companies do not necessarily think about the internal layout of components, for example, while the final product is in working condition, so to speak. This is a criticism that comes up very often today. Dell wants to do more. His Concept Luna gives many ideas.

Dell introduces Concept Luna, a laptop that’s easier to repair and recycle

Indeed, when it comes to repairing or recycling certain components, it can be a real nightmare. This is a situation that Dell wants to try to answer with its Concept Luna. This project, carried out in collaboration with Intel, was aimed at developing the concept of a laptop that would not only be easier to repair, but also easier to dispose of, which is a very important aspect in our modern world.

A project full of very interesting ideas

To realize its idea, Dell rethought the motherboard of the laptop, now it is 75% smaller and uses 20% fewer components. It is also placed closer to the case, allowing it to cool better while being further away from the batteries for better passive cooling, which in turn potentially eliminates the need for fans.

Dell and Intel have also shown how a computer case can be built from aluminum using water power and a stamped design. The number of screws has also been reduced to make access to internal components as easy as possible. The company also suggests the PCB could be made from more naturally occurring materials, and the water-soluble polymer adhesive makes it easier to remove components without damaging them.

On paper, the Dell Concept Luna is very interesting and promising, but it’s just a concept. Nothing tells us that Dell intends to market this product. In any case, I hope that all these ideas will inspire other manufacturers in the future. Who knows, maybe in the next few years we will get the right to such laptops. To be continued!
