DeLorean introduces the long-awaited Alpha5. An ultra-modern look with butterfly doors of the most beautiful effect.
DeLorean Motor Company has finally unveiled its long-awaited new electric car, dubbed the Alpha5. With supercar looks, butterfly doors and four seats, this car can easily hit 88mph. DeLorean teased this car last month, promising to reveal everything later this summer on August 18th to be exact. For those who don’t know, the Alpha5 will not be produced by the original DeLorean brand, but by a Texas company that bought the rights.

The Alpha5 was designed by ItalDesign, Giorgetto Giugiaro, who designed the original DeLorean. The car is based on the Medusa concept that the original DeLorean company worked on before declaring bankruptcy in 1982.
The car was generally expected to have four independent gullwing doors, but DeLorean ultimately decided to stick with two. From the front and top, the Alpha5 is reminiscent of the new Tesla roadster.

DeLorean has also integrated a 100kWh battery that should provide excellent autonomy, as well as a dual motor and all-wheel drive. The Alpha5 should reach speeds of up to 250 km/h and accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 2.99 seconds. Or 0 to 88 mph in 4.35 seconds.
DeLorean became famous, of course, thanks to the Back to the Future films. Its creator, John DeLorean, lived a rather hectic life. This man especially led the development of famous American muscle cars such as the Pontiac GTO in the 1960s and 1970s. In 1982, he was arrested for cocaine trafficking but found not guilty.
All information about this DeLorean Alpha5 can be found on the manufacturer’s website.
