Discord Introduces New Text Chat Feature Allowing Users to Share Anything in Voice Channels
Discord, the leading community app, has announced a new text chat feature for its voice channels. The news came on Wednesday as officials announced the latest feature in their official blog post, which is now rolling out to its features. With the new feature, you don’t have to worry about sending a text message to the wrong voice channel during a voice call.
Discord is the main communication service application that was originally created for gamers and later became a public platform for many kinds of communities. In order to provide its users with the best possible service, the application offers new features that can make communication more fun. The new text chat feature is considered a dedicated space for messaging in voice channels for Discord users. What’s more, officials have announced that this latest feature will be free for any server, regardless of size.

Each voice channel, including its own text chat, will allow users to send messages, post links, and more easily engage in conversation, according to a company blog post. Others can also check out what the community is talking about, even if they’re not on the call. Users will also be able to see message previews in the top right corner of the app when a user shares something in a voice channel chat they have participated in.

All voice channels will now have a chat icon which is used to send links, emoji, text, GIFs and whatever they want. Moderators can also set permissions for everyone to prevent the user from posting messages in voice chat, such as “Send Messages”, “Add Reactions”, “Use External Emoji”, “Use External Stickers”, etc.
When will Discord release a new text chat feature?
Concluding the blog post, officials assured that Discord’s new text chat feature will be rolled out to all servers, including community and non-community servers, by June 29, 2022. The new feature is now available on all Discord platforms such as Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, Android, and any web browser.
For non-community servers, users can automatically access the new feature in voice channels through the server settings. However, community-enabled servers can also use this feature. Discord was released on May 13, 2015 and celebrated its seventh birthday last month.
