Winter is coming… just further down the road, actually about eight generations away. The “Game of Thrones”prequel “House of the Dragon”made a splash on HBO. By some estimates, the most watched season premiere on the streaming service, HBO’s servers were overwhelmed when potential viewers tried to access the show. After the first season premiere was viewed on an epic scale, HBO quickly announced that House of the Dragon had been renewed for a second season. To fan the flames, you can watch the entire first episode on YouTube for free. The series follows House Targaryen, famous for its dragons and unbranched family tree.
We find an age of peace, but signs of war are already visible on the horizon. Episode 1 captures the bloody nature of Game of Thrones’ reputation and highlights the importance of legacy, heirs, and protecting family access to the throne. The series begins with dragons being a key part of the story, rather than waiting to be introduced like in the previous series.
