Dying Light 2 is not Cross Gen
If you’ve played the latest horror action game, you’ve probably seen Dying Light 2 ‘s multiplayer options, which encourage you to team up with friends to have fun slashing zombies and racing across rooftops.
But what if your friends are PC players and you are Xbox players? Dying Light 2 not cross-gen? What if you’re playing on PlayStation and your friends are waiting for the Switch version?
Due to the game’s launch, fans have been wondering about this issue, especially since the game’s multiplayer capabilities are a key part of its appeal.
Is Dying Light 2 a cross-platform game?
The bad news is that there is no crossplay in Dying Light 2. Xbox One users can only play with other players, not Series X players. You’re out of luck if you and your buddies aren’t on the same console.
The good news is that this will not continue indefinitely. Techland is committed to making the game cross-platform compatible. Unfortunately, there is currently no timeline for such an addition. Though hopefully it will happen sooner rather than later.
Too bad Dying Light 2 doesn’t support crossplay. Any multiplayer game that lacks cross-platform compatibility is a real disappointment these days. This should be the main goal of any online game in the future. PC, Xbox and PlayStation have never been as popular together as they are now.
This is a brutal generation, and limiting your game to only allow players to play in your ecosystem limits the game’s potential.
So, if there is no cross-platform, what about cross-generation? Does Dying Light 2 allow you to play with friends with older/newer hardware than you have?
Dying Light 2 is cross-generational, meaning Xbox Series X/S gamers can play with Xbox One players, and PS5 and PS4 players will fight for survival together, which is better than nothing.
But other than the platforms mentioned above, cross-gen play is not supported on any other.
