Jailbreak Chimera updated to version 1.6.5 with support for iOS 12.5.7
Chimera jailbreak tool for iOS 12 devices received the latest EOL update late Monday night, adding support for iOS 12.5.7.
The announcement was made by former Odyssey Team member and lead developer CoolStar, who officially announced her departure from the jailbreak community late last night, confirming what many already knew.
The Chimera update is designed to upgrade the jailbreak to support the latest iOS 12, which Apple only released in January, to fix security flaws in older iPhone and iPad firmware versions.
Chimera is still a semi-untethered jailbreak tool, meaning that it comes as a downloadable application that can be installed using utilities such as AltStore or Sideloady, and the application needs to be re-signed every seven days.
If you’re lucky, you might also find a signing service that can provide an app and a certificate that supports jailbreak signing for up to one year if it’s not revoked before then.
Hardly anyone is running iOS 12 anymore, except perhaps for a small subset of legacy devices that can’t run iOS or iPadOS 13. Having said that, Chimera isn’t as relevant today as it once was, but it’s still nice to see it. final update to support the latest version of iOS 12; AKA iOS 12.5.7.
