E3 Could Be A Digital Event Again This Year, Cancellation Rumors Are Clearly False

According to industry insider Tom Henderson, it looks like E3 can’t be canceled this year as the ESRB sent out emails to developers. Reports earlier this year suggested that perhaps E3 could be canceled entirely this year after being an online-only event last year.

Now it seems that the event can only be online, like last year’s E3. Last year’s show, despite being an online-only show, was quite successful as Microsoft widely announced massive announcements of its consoles, including massive third-party games.

For the second year in a row, the event was once again not attended by Sony and PlayStation, as they appear to have opted out of the event entirely, opting instead to show games during the State of Play and PlayStation Showcase.

E3 may not be canceled this year, contrary to earlier rumors

For decades, E3 has been one of the most exciting events for the gaming community, with all the major publishers and developers showcasing their best work in advertising for the best games. Typically, this event featured a lot of games and announcements, so it will be interesting to see how the online event plays out this year.

Platform owners such as Nintendo and PlayStation have chosen to host their own events/livestreams showcasing upcoming projects and announcements. Microsoft, however, makes regular appearances at E3, and if there was any indication last year, we could expect a massive Xbox demo later this year.

2022 has been a great year for Xbox, and there are many more titles that have generated hype. In particular, Ninja Theory’s Hellblade 2: Senua’s Saga has been one of the most anticipated games over the past few years.

It will be interesting to see if Xbox will introduce more games this time around or offer updates to games already announced.
