Epic Games: active participation in the metaverse

To further their ambitions in the metaverse, the American publisher Epic Games has invested several million dollars in Hadean.

Epic Games and investors such as 2050 Capital, Alumni Ventures, Aster Capital, Entrepreneur First and InQTel will help British startup Hadean develop its scalable, interoperable and secure metaverse capabilities. As an open platform for decentralized cloud computing, Hadean could become a popular “infrastructure”that powers the metaverse and digital immersive experiences for business, commerce, gaming, and even governments.

Global investors support our mission to empower the creative economy that builds the metaverse and build the infrastructure for the emergence of scalable, interoperable and secure #virtual worlds.

Mark Petit, Vice President and General Manager of Unreal Engine at Epic Games, said:

The computing power of Hadean will provide the infrastructure needed to create a scalable metaverse. The company’s technology complements Epic Games’ Unreal Engine, enabling massive concurrency and opening up new tools for creators and developers. We are excited to contribute to the development of Hadean and look forward to continuing to work together to lay the foundation for the metaverse.

Hadean, Epic Games Metaverse Tool

With a thriving ecosystem and massive virtual events, Fortnite has established itself as the reference metaverse. To continue to be number one in its field, Epic Games is looking to greatly expand the reach of its events and ensure that its ambition is not limited to the total number of players who compete in Battle Royale. Although Hadin has worked with the Web 3.0 metaverse and uses blockchain technology in part, Epic Games’ primary focus is on achieving better metaverse scalability than what Fortnite and Unreal Engine 5 offer in its hardware.

Epic Games will accelerate in real time and with an immersive design

Autodesk and Epic Games have teamed up since 2008 when Autodesk joined the American publisher’s partnership program, allowing Autodesk’s 3D design software to be integrated with the Unreal Engine graphics engine. In addition to Revit, Epic Games’ Datasmith technology supports 3ds Max, Navisworks, and Inventor workflows to make it easy to integrate designs into Unreal Engine. In 2021, Epic Gams and Autodesk have jointly released a new Unreal Live Link plugin for Maya, allowing media and entertainment creators to transfer data from Maya to Unreal in real time. Now, they have just entered into a strategic collaboration to accelerate real-time immersive 3D experiences across all industries, with an initial focus on architecture.

Amy Banzel, Autodesk’s EVP of AEC Engineering, explains:

We know our customers are looking for more AR viewing and collaboration experiences. Together with Epic Games, we will develop what is possible. In an immersive environment, designers can communicate with their design teams and clients with unparalleled realism by seeing completed designs to improve decision making and results.
