iPhone users can use Apple Maps to find their car that’s been parked for a long time, but the Cupertino-based company recently made it easy to find a parking space. The Apple brand has formalized its map service feature in partnership with SpotHero, a parking reservation service that allows users to find and reserve a spot right from the Apple Maps app.

The feature, which will initially be available in select cities in the US and Canada, will allow users to search for nearby places and see real-time availability and pricing on SpotHero. Once a location is selected, the user can book and pay directly through the Apple Maps app, making things a lot easier. After payment, your seat is guaranteed. The app gives you a digital parking pass allowing you to bypass local payment systems and gain direct access to your location.

In a statement to TechCrunch, SpotHero CEO and co-founder Mark Lawrence said, “We are constantly looking for new ways to make parking easy and accessible for drivers. Working with Apple Maps is one way to achieve this. With our new integration, Apple Maps users can find SpotHero parking directly in Apple Maps on iPhone and Mac.”

How SpotHero wants to save you time and money

SpotHero has data from over 8,000 locations in 300 cities across North America. The company advertises that you can save up to 50% on parking by looking ahead, as well as significantly reduce the time it takes to find a spot in a densely populated city center. In addition to the on-demand system, SpotHero also makes it easy to make monthly bookings in dozens of cities.

The service has been around for over a decade, and Apple users can already use it in their car via CarPlay by downloading the app from the App Store. Apple Maps users will be able to save their favorite parking spots and get notified when their reservation expires. This feature also seamlessly integrates with Apple Pay for quick and easy parking payment using saved methods.

This feature will be somewhat hidden in Apple Maps. After specifying where you want to go, you can tap the “More”button and then “Parking”to see a list of nearby places. You will also see ratings for each. This may seem rather odd at first glance, but like the restaurants you frequent, not all parking spaces are the same. You will know everything there is to know before leaving your car there for a few hours unattended.
