This jailbreak tweak allows you to turn on your iPhone’s flashlight even while recording a video.
One limitation you may find when recording video through the Apple Camera app is that you can’t turn on your iPhone’s flashlight as you normally would through the Control Center.
While this isn’t something you can do very often, it can make certain scenarios more difficult, especially when you’re in the dark and trying to start video recording with the flashlight on, or when you’re already recording and want your flashlight on without using the app’s flash feature”Camera”because you want the flashlight to continue working even after recording stops.
Luckily for people in any of the aforementioned boats, iOS developer PoomSmart has made a free jailbreak tweak called Record ‘n’ Torch (iOS 12+) that removes this stupid limitation, allowing users to toggle the flashlight even when they’re in the middle. recording video in the Camera app.
Record ‘n’ Torch is a tweak that’s been around for a long time, but PoomSmart has breathed new life into the concept by releasing the latest version that supports even the latest iPhone firmware.
While this feature is indeed a niche feature, I can attest to a number of instances where I could find this feature useful over the past few years, though admittedly it doesn’t happen very often.
In my opinion, Apple shouldn’t limit features with software, but they do it anyway in the name of a better user experience. However, sometimes these restrictions themselves hinder the user experience in an invisible way, such as in those niche cases where you want your iPhone to be able to do something and it can’t.
If you’re interested in trying PoomSmart’s new Record ‘n’ Torch (iOS 12+) setup, you can download it for free from PoomSmart’s personal repository through your favorite package management app. The tweak supports jailbroken iOS 12, 13, 14, and 15 devices.
