Fortnite Won’t Appear on Valve’s Steam Deck Console
Epic doesn’t seem to want to offer Fortnite on the Steam Deck console, a decision that’s pretty hard to figure out.
Valve’s first Steam Deck consoles are expected to hit gamers’ hands at the end of the month, but those looking to use them to enjoy games like Fortnite will be disappointed. Indeed, it looks like Epic has no plans to make their world-famous game compatible.
Epic doesn’t seem to want to offer Fortnite on the Steam Deck console
This possibility was asked by Epic CEO Tim Sweeney if Fortnite will be ported to the Steam Deck console. He responded on Twitter that no, the studio has no plans in this direction. It’s hard to see why the company doesn’t want to offer their Fortnite game on Steam Deck, but either way, that’s bad news for all the players who were hoping to play the game during transit, like together.
Difficult decision to understand
Due to Epic’s ongoing issues with Apple and Google, Fortnite’s mobile availability is very limited. The game cannot really be played on iOS devices, and players with Android devices must download the game directly from the Epic servers and not from Google Play. There’s still the option of streaming, of course, but it requires a subscription to a paid service like NVIDIA’s GeForce Now.
Offering Fortnite on the Steam Deck would be the perfect opportunity for the game and, of course, for the studio to regain market share in the mobile segment. We cannot but see a certain extravagance in this decision. But who knows, maybe in the future this will change. The studio can see that it has a lot to gain from this. However, for now, you can’t count on Fortnite in the Steam deck.
