YouTube’s Live Together Feature Coming to iOS and Android
YouTube launches Live Together feature for iOS and Android. Still in testing, but very promising.
After teasers last year, YouTube introduced a new feature called Live Together, which allows creators to host multiplayer live streams. Anyone with more than 50 followers can invite a third party to live stream with them from an Android or iOS mobile device. Only one guest at a time, but the host can easily switch between guests during the same broadcast.

You can also schedule broadcasts with a guest from your computer (via Live Control Room) and then go live on your phone. To do this, open the YouTube app, click Create, then Live Together. After selecting broadcast details, select “Invite co-streamer”and send an invite link to that co-streamer. This will then be sent to the waiting room until you click “Start Living”.
There is no minimum number of subscribers for guests, but the organizer will be held liable if the guest violates the rules for using the platform. Hosts can earn revenue from ads that appear before, during, and after.

YouTube offered a similar feature, allowing creators to arrange multiple live purchases in exchange for a brand’s channel. Twitch recently introduced a beta feature called Guest Star that allows creators to host up to five guests on their broadcasts. This system is a bit simpler in the sense that any viewer can raise a virtual hand and the host invites them in, like in Clubhouse or Twitter Spaces. Unlike YouTube’s mobile restrictions, the Twitch version is only available on desktop.
