Nothing CEO Carl Pei teases an Android smartphone with Snapdragon SoC in the making

Last year, Nothing made a foray into the consumer technology segment with the introduction of the Nothing(1) TWS ear. The company managed to sell over 4,00,000 units of its first product in 8 months.

Back in November, the company confirmed that it was working on five new products. The brand is known to be working on a smartphone and it is rumored to launch in early 2022. Now Carl Pei teased an Android smartphone in one of his tweets. Take a look at the Twitter thread,

Carl’s latest tweet confirms that Nothing does not work on an Android smartphone. A Snapdragon official on Twitter was also part of the conversation, so the upcoming Nothing smartphone should be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor.

No smartphone can run on a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor!

At the moment, details related to the Nothing smartphone remain unknown. All we know is that the upcoming Nothing smartphone will be equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and run on Android.

For those not in the know, Nothing bought the Essential smartphone company founded by Andy Rubin. So Essential’s trademarks, logos, etc. are now owned by Nothing. In addition, a few months ago, Qualcomm invested $50 million in Nothing to strengthen its technology ecosystem.

Rumor has it that Carl Pel’s Nothing company, in addition to a smartphone, will also release a power bank – Nothing Power (1). Nothing has previously said it plans to create a host of smart and connected consumer technology products.

The company recently hired Adam Bates to be its Design Director. For those who don’t know, Bates previously led the design and product experience team at Dyson.
