Discord voice chat available on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S
Discord Voice Chats are finally available on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. The implementation is still quite convoluted, but it should improve.
For a successful online video game, being able to chat with teammates is almost a must these days if you want to strategize and play at the very least together. There are several solutions for this. Today, one of the most popular, Discord, is solidifying its presence on Xbox. Voice chat is finally available on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
Discord voice chats are finally available on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S
Indeed, following the Insider beta phase that began in July, Discord voice chats are now available to everyone on all Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S consoles. The integration allows Discord users on Xbox, PC, and mobile to connect to the same voice channels. First you will need to read your Discord and Xbox accounts together. If you have already done this in order for your Discord contacts to see your gamertag, you will have to repeat the manipulation because this integration requires new voice permissions to work. Next comes the tricky part.
The implementation is still quite convoluted
Discord on Xbox works by moving you and your voice chats from the platform to your console. In fact, you cannot join a voice chat directly from the Xbox. Instead, start a conversation on a computer or mobile phone and then use the Discord and Xbox apps to transfer the call. Once your accounts are linked, you will see a new “Join Xbox”button in Discord that will allow you to complete the operation. Press this button and the Xbox app will open on your smartphone and ask you which console you want to continue the conversation on.
but should improve
It’s not the most intuitive implementation in the world, that’s for sure, but it could get better over time. “We look forward to continuing our partnership to create deeper and more meaningful experiences for your friends and communities,” Discord said of the integration. Microsoft echoed this sentiment, stating that it is excited to “bring more Discord experiences to Xbox in the future.”
