Google opens page to announce ‘experimental updates’ to its AI Bard
Google opens the page to announce “experimental updates”to its AI Bard, a transparency approach that should earn it points.
Since launching its artificial intelligence (AI) Bard a few months ago, Google has been calling it an “experimental conversational AI service.”The Mountain View firm explains that it’s constantly improving its models, but without a centralized place to find out what’s changed, it can be hard to keep abreast of what it’s actually capable of doing. In the spirit of openness and transparency regarding the development of Bard, the American giant has created a new “experimental updates”page, where everyone can find information about the latest updates to Bard, including new features and bug fixes.

So far, every update posted on this page includes a “what”section and another “why”section. As for the updates page itself, Google explains that it was created so that “people can easily find the latest updates from Bard, test them, and provide feedback.”
Google added two more ads to the same post. The first one explains that there are now additional search options when clicking “Google it”. The other is an update on Bard’s math and logic skills, and Google explains that Bard doesn’t always get the right answers in those areas – which the company is trying to fix. This improvement came shortly after Google announced that they were moving Bard to a more advanced language model.
A transparent approach that should earn him points
While the explanations behind these Google updates are rather brief and vague, this is a very good step in the right direction to bring more knowledge about Bard to the general public. What’s more, at a time when industry professionals and the general public are increasingly concerned about unregulated advances in AI technology, Google’s transparency should earn the giant some valuable credibility points.
