GoW Ragnarok: Defeat Alva and prevent her from healing

During the battle with Alva in God of War Ragnarok, many players are unable to defeat her because she heals herself. This can make the fight tedious as you will have to start draining her health again. Not to mention that she has a combo that can drain you of tons of health. How to beat Alva in God of War Ragnarok

You can defeat Alva by taking away her health and preventing her from attacking by interrupting her combo. She has a few moves, but they can deal quite a lot of damage if she manages to connect them. Here are all the moves she uses in combat and how you can counter them:

• Charged Attacks: Alva can charge her attacks before attacking you. This is indicated by her attacks with blue rings. The best way to counter them is to quickly press L1 twice. This not only interrupts her, but also allows you to land a few hits of your own.
• Spinning Sword Strikes: She uses her swords to slash you. Since she has two of them, she holds one with the back of her hand. And does a spin attack to hit you twice. You can either block it or parry and attack it.
• Spear Throw: Alva fuses her swords into a spear. She then throws them at you and even calls you back. So, just like the Leviathan Axe, it can hit you twice: the first time she throws it and the second time she draws it. Yellow rings indicate this attack. This way you can parry them. This is a trickier move than some of the others. Hence, if you can’t parry it, be sure to block it.
• Cross Projectiles: Alva will dash backwards to create distance between her and Kratos. She will then fire X-shaped projectiles at Kratos. This attack is indicated by red rings. So make sure you dodge them in time to properly dodge them or they will hit you.
• Ground Slam: Alve charges his blades and slams them into the ground. This will send out a huge shockwave that can stagger and slightly blind Kratos with its light.
• Multiple Hits: Alva will create a gap between her and Kratos in order to use this move. Red rings indicate this attack. She then proceeds to lunge and land various blows on Kratos with her sword. During the combo chain, she also fuses her swords into a spear for further damage.

These are all the tricks that Alva uses. Make sure you counter them as you see fit during the fight. It’s parrying moves you can and blocking and dodging moves you can’t. After you almost deplete her health, she will start healing herself.

How to stop Alva from healing

You should be relatively close to her when she only has the last part of her health bar left. Once you see that her health is almost over, she will kneel down and start using the light to heal herself. This move is marked with blue rings. Run towards it and press L1 twice. If you do it in time, it will prevent her from healing and stun her. Now just press R3 and finish her off and you will defeat her.
