Gran Turismo 7: Polyphony Digital Unveils Porsche Vision GT
The Porsche Vision GT is the first Porsche vehicle designed exclusively for the digital world and will only be driven by Gran Turismo 7 players.
By collaborating with the Japanese studio Polyphony Digital, Porsche not only demonstrates a distinct visionary approach, but once again demonstrates the high level of knowledge of its designers. Freed from the constraints of developing mass-produced models, they were able to bring to life their own ideas for a concept car exclusively for Gran Turismo 7, which is still slated for release on March 4, 2022 on PS5 and PS4. This one includes elements of Porsche design.Familiar from the future-oriented versions, it displays the brand’s typical proportions with a particularly sporty aspect ratio as well as an extremely low bonnet and pronounced fenders. The sleek headlights and integrated air intakes create a visual link to the Taycan’s design language, a nod to the car’s pure electric drive.
“Porsche’s appeal lies in its sober design,” says Kazunori Yamauchi, president of Polyphony Digital. “When it comes to engineering expertise, we and Porsche follow the same philosophy of perfectionism. We share the same passion for car racing and we have looked to the future of the car. Beyond the purely design themes, the new features help create a strong sports car impression. Gamers get haptic feedback through the DualSense controller, which mimics the feel of a steering wheel. This fast and direct feedback is reminiscent of a real racing car. ”
Gameplay of Gran Turismo 7 on the Deep Forest race track
On this tour of the famous Deep Forest race track in Gran Turismo 7, we climb up in a Lamborghini Murcielago and start just like before. The start/finish line always runs along the undulating main straight and there is a hard braking zone on the left in a hard hairpin. From there the cars move up the hill, this time the turns seem a bit tighter, before turning right under the first bridge. The first division, as before, takes place between the two bridges. However, this is where the changes begin to show up in earnest. At the turn of the second bridge, there is no elevation change from the previous one, and then the course begins to dip into what was a long double top on the return straight up. The trail then descends to what used to be a long double peak on the back straight uphill. Now it consists of two separate steps:
This climb is also much longer than before, with a couple of gentler turns as you go through the half-tunnel and then through the tunnel itself before the biggest change happens. Where this last section used to be a half-speed left heading down the hill on the left into the last left, now there is a hairpin on the left. This results in a right turn with a short straight line – and the pit lane to the inside of the field – before the last left. The only thing we don’t yet know and can’t guess from this gameplay is where in the world Deep Forest will take place. All other GT7 tracks, real or fictional, take place on the globe.
