Gwent: solo standalone spin-off will be a PC and mobile exclusive

Unlike Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales, Project Golden Nekker will do without consoles from Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo.

Due to the cessation of development of Gwent for PS4 and Xbox One, game director Vladimir Tortsov announces that Project Golden Nekker (codename) will not be released on consoles: “We have abandoned consoles for a good reason. There were obvious advantages to them, otherwise it would not have been released on consoles at all, but for live services with frequent updates, it was a really hard experience. In general, since we are no longer with us, we do not plan to port any of our spin-offs to consoles at this time. ”

Project Golden Nekker, spin-off of Gwent: The Witcher Card Game

While Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales is also a single-player spin-off, taking the form of an RPG where players fight using Gwent cards, Project Golden Nekker will be something completely different. Earlier this year, Polish studio CD Projekt RED revealed that its goal is to provide an immersive single-player experience that is different from the main multiplayer version of Gwent: The Witcher Card Game. Note that the release is still scheduled for the end of 2022.
