Havoc updates jailbreak repository with Alipay support, compatibility warnings and more…
Havoc is one of the largest centralized jailbreak repositories that still allows developers to sell paid jailbreak tweaks. The repository has replaced Packix and many developers have ported their tweaks to Havoc to make it easier for jailbreakers to detect tweaks.
Today, Havoc on his Twitter account shared a lot of changes that will have a positive impact on the jailbreak community in the future. Chief among these changes is support for Alipay, which is now another way that jailbreakers can pay for paid jailbreak tweaks hosted in the Havoc repository. Alipay’s newfangled support comes just a month after Havoc added PayPal support by popular demand.
Havoc is also issuing new compatibility alerts that will alert buyers of the jailbreak tweak when they buy something that is incompatible with their operating system. While the information on the tweak’s description page already indicates this most of the time, Havoc says they’ve seen a lot of new purchases made on non-jailbroken devices, so the team wants to make sure there aren’t any wrong purchases.
The aforementioned compatibility warnings are especially important with the upcoming (albeit with an unknown release date) jailbreak for iOS and iPadOS 15.0-15.1.1 from the Odyssey Team, which is expected to be non-root. Rootless dynamics will change the dynamics of what tweaks can do and how they do it, requiring developers to update their tweaks for compatibility.
Two other changes that the Havoc repository seems to be implementing are support for embedding YouTube videos on package description pages and the ability to gift packages to specific usernames instead of generating and sending gift codes to users. In the long run, this should greatly simplify the gifting process for developers.
Improvements to the Havoc repository seem to be continuous, so we’re sure this won’t be the last time we hear about an update from the team. In the meantime, let us know in the comment section below which feature above you would most like to use.
