Hourlytics, Vocabulary Booster, Snoozy and more apps to try this week
The weekend is finally here, which means it’s time for another one of our app reviews of the week! We’ve got some great options for you this week, including a productivity tracker, a vocabulary booster, and a sleep companion. And, as always, we have selected a great game for you.
Hourlytics: mindful logging
If you don’t get as much done during the day as you would like, you may have a temporary bandit – an unproductive task or other distraction that prevents you from completing daily tasks. So how do you catch a temporary bandit? With a performance tracking app like Hourlytics. Now there are many such applications, and if you have not tried one of them yet, I do not know what to tell you to try it. But hey now you know it’s there if you want to check it out.
English – Vocabulary Enhancer
Speaking of self-improvement, here is an app to help you improve your vocabulary. Seriously. Using flashcards and spaced repetition, this English vocabulary booster promises to help you learn and remember over 5,000 words. The built-in algorithm rearranges your words after each session, and depending on how well you remember them, it will increase the time interval for the next repetition of each word. You can even create your own flashcards with the words you want to learn.
Snoozy – Relaxing Melodies
Okay, apparently it’s cultivation week or something. But did you know that listening to soothing music and soothing sounds before bed can reduce your anxiety by 60%? At least that’s what smart people say. Snoozy lets you play or create your own soothing sounds to fall asleep to. So turn off all the lights, light the eucalyptus candles, turn on the Snoozy, sit back and relax your mind. I feel like everyone should try this at some point, at least once.
Doctor Who: Lost in Time
You know, I could have sworn I covered this game in the previous AOTW column, but since I can’t find it anywhere on the site, I’ll do it here. Either way, Doctor Who – the beloved British sci-fi series – travels to your phone via a new idle game called Lost in Time. In it, you will travel through classic locations, fight against famous villains, collect character cards and complete tasks to get boxes of Kerblum. It’s a boring game based on the most boring series ever – what’s not to love?!
