Huawei P50 Pocket wants to compete with Samsung Galaxy Z Flip

Huawei is formalizing its P50 Pocket, a direct competitor to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip.

Samsung was the first to enter the folding screen smartphone market, and at least we can say that the reaction from the general public has been quite mixed. There were concerns about the durability of the phone, it was very expensive and it had many flaws. But all this was ultimately more or less expected. The technology was brand new, but with the Galaxy Z Flip 3, it seems like the South Korean giant has finally found the answers to all these problems. Today, the competition is starting to react, especially with Huawei.

So much so that today there is active competition in this segment. This, in particular, is the case of Huawei, which in turn decided to enter the smartphone market with folding screens. The manufacturer recently unveiled its latest creation, the Huawei P50 Pocket. This one offers a design reminiscent of the Galaxy Z Flip line.

The phone itself opens up to offer a 6.9-inch 120Hz OLED display with a resolution of 2790 x 1188 pixels. The device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chip, which is admittedly a rather odd choice considering the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 platform will be launched next year. Otherwise, we also note the presence of 8 to 12 GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of storage.

As with the Galaxy Z Flip, Huawei has made the decision to give the outside of its device its own screen. In the case of the P50 Pocket, it has a round shape, which is also reminiscent of Huawei smartwatches. The phone also has a triple-sensor rear camera module – a 40MP main sensor, a 13MP ultra-wide sensor, and another 32MP sensor.

The Huawei P50 Pocket will start at $1,410 and will be converted first in China, but will roll out to other markets later.
