IKEA updates smart speakers for Symfonisk shelves
IKEA updates the connected Symfonisk speaker. Slightly revised design, changes under the hood.
A few years ago, IKEA and Sonos formed a strong partnership. This has led, among other things, to connected speakers for Symfonisk shelves. For those who don’t know, these are smart speakers made by Sonos but with IKEA design so they will easily find their place in the living room or bedroom without swearing.

Thus, these speakers saw the light of day a few years ago and have not evolved until today. As it turns out, the two companies have decided it’s time to roll out an update, Dutch website Tweakers found out. A new version of Symfonisk speakers has been released with a slightly redesigned design, a new processor, more memory, improved power management, and a longer power cable, giving users more interior flexibility and convenience.

The new Symfonisk speaker can also be connected to an older generation speaker if you want to create a stereo effect in your living room, for example. Otherwise, you can simply say that the components are the same as in the first version. In other words, we still find 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi for wireless connectivity and streaming, as well as AirPlay 2 protocol support for Apple users.
For now, it seems that this new version of the Symfonisk speaker is only available in the Netherlands for a public price of 100 euros. No one knows when it will arrive in other countries. A little more patience.
