Impropable sells Inflexion Games to Tencent

Tencent acquires multiplayer gaming subsidiary Improbable.

In an effort to accelerate its metaverse business, primarily through a creative platform, British tech company Improbable has made the decision to part ways with Inflexion Games (formerly Improbable Edmonton) in favor of an unknown. Despite joining the Chinese giant Tencent, whose experience and global resources will allow the development of rich and meaningful game universes, steeped in history and innovative gameplay, the structure under the leadership of Aarin Flynn will continue to use the technology of its former owner.

“I am honored to work with the Tencent family,” said Aarin Flynn, CEO of Inflexion Games. “ The deep knowledge and experience of Tencent’s international teams and their desire to maintain the independence and creativity of our team represent an invaluable opportunity for cooperation. We look forward to working together on the Nightingale Early Access launch later this year.” Pete Smith, Vice President of Partnerships at Tencent Games, adds: “The talented team at Inflexion Games has a proven track record of developing captivating worlds that combine immersive action with exceptional gameplay. Initial feedback on Nightingale has been overwhelmingly positive and we look forward to supporting Inflexion in realizing their vision for this and future games. ”

Nightingale, the first game from Inflexion Games

Developed by former BioWare veterans, Nightingale is currently in development for PC Early Access in 2022, with closed testing to begin in the coming months. Set in a rich Victorian fantasy setting, the shared world crafting and survival game will now be published by Tencent under the Level Infinite label.

Thrown into a labyrinth of dangerous fantasy worlds, players must travel through mystical portals to explore increasingly dangerous worlds in search of humanity’s last resting place, the Nightingale.
