Instagram: Weird error makes it look like your account has been suspended

An Instagram bug is preventing some users from using the platform. Lack of reliability in the Meta infrastructure?

If you have or have had problems viewing your Instagram feed, know that you are not alone. Instagram has indeed confirmed that some users are having “problems” accessing their account. The social network hasn’t identified the cause of the problem, but affected users have been informed that their account has been suspended, while others have seen their following plummet.

Instagram bug prevents some users from using the platform

When asked about this, Instagram did not want to talk too much about this topic. Crash reports began appearing on Downdetector early in the morning after Monday, October 31st. However, this problem does not seem to be widespread and, fortunately, the vast majority of users have no problems logging in and using the platform.

However, this is not the first major outage in a year. About a year ago, Meta’s parent company suffered a massive outage after a bug shut down vital elements on the company’s main network. Most recently, in early October, Instagram fixed a bug that prevented iOS users from accessing the service. In September, a bug caused Android and iOS apps to crash almost instantly. These issues are thankfully not common, but they underline that Instagram is having some growing pains, so to speak.

Lack of reliability in the Meta infrastructure?

The situation is in any case better than in the past. Instagram was particularly hard hit in 2019, with two major outages during the month. This is due to privacy issues that have exposed user passwords to employees.

In any case, this failure occurs at the wrong time, if there are good times and bad times for the failure. While Instagram’s user base continues to grow, most recently passing the 2 billion daily active user mark, Meta is losing a lot of money due to its metaverse initiative, whether it be virtual reality products or the Horizon Worlds platform. The Menlo Park firm isn’t in immediate danger, of course, but he’ll have to prove he’s tougher if he wants his empire to prosper.

We know that some of you are having trouble accessing your Instagram account. We are looking into it and we apologize for the inconvenience. #instagramdown
