IO Interactive moves to Turkey with a new studio
To speed up work on Project 007 and Project Fantasy, IO Interactive announces the opening of a new studio in Istanbul, Turkey.
Nearly two years after the creation of IO Interactive Barcelona, IO Interactive is now exporting to Turkey’s main economic hub as well as the country’s cultural showcase:
With a thriving mobile technology and development scene, we have identified Istanbul as a region filled with passionately passionate, development-oriented and tech-creative talent. Istanbul is also a city rich in history, offering a strong cultural presence, historic architecture, amazing views of the Bosphorus, and a vibrant and diverse culture. With these elements, opening a studio in Istanbul was an important step towards our goal of creating impressive games for all platforms and for everyone, as well as becoming a reference point for the development of AAA in the Sublime Door.
We are pleased to announce the opening of a new studio in Istanbul as part of our continued growth.

Türkiye seduced IO Interactive
IO Interactive Istanbul is located in Maslak, Sarıyer. Sarıyer is a historical place famous for its harbor and restaurants on the Bosphorus. Maslak is the center of technology and business in Turkey, an area incredibly easily accessible from anywhere in the city, rich in amenities, beautiful squares and shopping malls.
Our mission is to create a hub for AAA game development in the region and create a unique gaming experience for our players around the world. Our team in Istanbul will play an important role in our ambitious productions such as Project 007 and Project Fantasy.
Hitman License Temporarily Suspended at IO Interactive
Christian Elverdam, creative director at IO Interactive, told Hitman fans that they shouldn’t expect the license back for a few years:
We have an amazing platform that allows us to keep experimenting with what the formula can do and what people want from it. And then at some point, of course, like any creator, it would be nice to think: “Well, with everything that we have learned, what would happen if we had to re-articulate the sandbox?”. It’s a very important new Hitman game right now, but it’s been delayed a bit as we’re making another fantastic agent game that’s taking up a lot of our time. But, obviously, we will return to our beloved Agent 47. He is still at the center of our company.
