iOS can now erase a locked iPhone without a computer
Apple simplifies the process of erasing data from iPhone. With iOS 15.2, this no longer requires a computer.
Today’s smartphones are almost our entire digital life. In fact, manufacturers try very hard to include a number of features for your protection. Apple is particularly good at this task. And today, the procedure for erasing a locked iPhone has become even easier. Explanation.
Apple simplifies the iPhone erasing process
If for some reason you forgot your iPhone passcode and failed to authenticate, then the only solution that could solve the problem is to completely wipe your iPhone, causing you to lose it, as well as everything that may be on it. This is an effective security measure, but to erase it, it was necessary to connect the iPhone to the computer.
With iOS 15.2, this no longer requires a computer.
In most cases, this is not a problem, whether you are at home or at work. But what if it isn’t? What if you don’t have access to a computer right away? It turns out that in iOS 15.2, the Cupertino company has introduced a new way to completely wipe your iPhone without having to connect it to your computer.
This new procedure only works for devices running iOS 15.2. In other words, if you have an iPhone that doesn’t have this version of Apple’s mobile OS, you’ll still need to connect it to your computer to wipe your data. In any case, this is reported in a help document on the Apple website, which outlines the steps you need to follow in order to completely wipe the data from the iPhone.
Please note: Users will need to be connected to the Internet, whether through Wi-Fi or data, and will need to use the same Apple ID and password they used to initially set up their device. Thus, an attacker who would steal said iPhone could not completely erase it in order to resell it.
