“iPhone 14 Max” may actually be called iPhone 14 Plus.
Apple is set to hold a Far Out event on September 7, 2022. It is there that the company will no doubt unveil its new iPhone lineup, which is expected to include four new models. However, unlike previous years, there will be no “mini”model in the lineup. Instead, it will be a range of bigger and bigger phones.
One of these phones has been dubbed “iPhone 14 Max”, referring to the larger display. This is a phone that will effectively replace the mini variant, which is quite interesting as Apple is leaning towards a larger screen size. The launch of the iPhone 14 family is expected to include two phones with 6.1-inch displays and two phones with 6.7-inch screens.
The change in branding was revealed with an image shared by Twitter user “Tommy Boi “showing a clear “iPhone 14 Plus”case. There is nothing official about what is shown in the image, and it is quite possible that it is a fake from the very beginning. But the Plus branding wouldn’t be completely out of the box for Apple.
In past years, the company has used this brand for its larger phones. In fact, the last time it happened was in 2017 with the iPhone 8 Plus. However, after this device, the company switched to “Max”, the brand of choice for its larger smartphones.
If Apple revives the “Pro”branding, it will help the device stand out from the similarly sized iPhone 14 Pro Max. Although ditching “Pro”and using “Max”might work too. It could potentially play better with other models available in the lineup, offering some of the synergy that Apple usually loves (when it comes to branding).
We just have to wait and see how it works out. Although, we don’t have much time to do it.
