iPhone 14 Pro may cost more than iPhone 13 Pro models
Prices for the iPhone 14 Pro could go up compared to the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max, which start at $999 and $1,099 in the US.
- What is happening? Reliable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has predicted that Apple will raise prices on both iPhone 14 Pro models.
- Why care? iPhone Pro models are already expensive. Making the upcoming iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max even more expensive for the consumer is a move that could easily backfire. But Apple can get away with it because the iPhone 14 Pro can upgrade the rear camera from twelve to 48 megapixels.
- What to do? If you’ve been waiting for the iPhone 13 Pro, which is expected to come with a 48MP camera, then you can start saving some extra money right now. It’s also a good idea to check your carrier relationship and see if you can get the update this fall.
Apple announced a price increase for the iPhone 14 Pro
Instead of revealing prices for the iPhone 14 Pro, Kuo’s Twitter is pointing us to the latest quarterly earnings from Hon Hai Precision Industry, also known as Foxconn. The company reported its highest quarterly earnings for June and is expected to improve its full-year numbers to “growth”from “roughly flat”.
Foxconn is now the main iPhone maker that gets the lion’s share of its revenue from Apple, although it has many other customers. So if Foxconn is seeing significant revenue growth, it could be due to Apple.
He estimates average selling prices for the iPhone 14 family will increase by about fifteen percent over the iPhone 13 series “due to two price increases for the iPhone 14 Pro and a higher share of shipments.” He wouldn’t name a number, but the current iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max start at $999 and $1,099 in the US, respectively.
So if Apple is paying Foxconn more to build these phones because they have a brand new camera system and (presumably) other cool upgrades, don’t expect the company to swallow the extra cost without passing it on to the consumer in the form of higher phone prices.. iPhone 14 Pro series.
Apple is expected to launch two Pro-branded phones and two regular phones this year. Two phones will have 6.1-inch screens and two phones will have 6.7-inch screens. The iPhone mini will not be part of the 2022 iPhone line due to disappointing sales.
