iPhone SE: Three Hidden Features of the Home Button
The iPhone SE 2022 is a very interesting device, in part because it has a home button that allows you to unlock the screen more.
This year’s iPhone SE is a modern smartphone with an A15 chip and 5G connectivity, but in a frankly outdated design: a relatively small screen, thick edges, a single camera. .. And a physical Home button, which also allows you to unlock the phone. screen or go to the main screen. That being said, you might be wondering what else you can do with your thumb.
The Home button on iPhone can also be used to dim the screen and make it easier to control iPhone with one hand. Whether you’re planning on getting a new iPhone SE or you have an old iPhone with Touch ID, here are a few tips and tricks you need to know about the home button.
Turn your iPhone into a magnifying glass
Any smartphone can be used as a magnifying glass: open the camera, point the sensor at what you want to enlarge, and use two fingers to zoom in. That being said, if you have an iPhone, there is an easier way thanks to the Home button.
Thanks to the dedicated Accessibility feature, you can use your iPhone like a wolf with a triple tap of the Home button. But first it needs to be configured. In Settings > Accessibility > Accessibility Shortcuts, tap Magnifier. Now when you triple-click the Home button, the Magnifier function is activated, so you can zoom in, as well as increase saturation, add filters, activate the flashlight, and take pictures that you can zoom in on. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to exit this feature.
Turn down the brightness more than usual
Another accessibility feature that can be associated with the Home button is zoom. This not only allows you to zoom in on the screen, but also makes it easier to read through the filter. The filter in question is called “Low Brightness”, which allows you to reduce the brightness of the screen more than you can usually do through the Control Center.
In Settings > Accessibility > Accessibility Shortcuts, select Zoom. Now triple pressing the Home button will bring up a small button on the screen. Click on this button and then Zoom Out as your screen will be enlarged. Click the button again, but this time click Select Filter > Low Light. This will greatly reduce the brightness. To disable the feature, press the Home button three more times.
Make it easy to use the screen with one hand
While the iPhone SE is currently Apple’s smallest model, some may have trouble using it with one hand. With two hands there is no problem, but it may happen that we only have one. You can always use the Home button to make your life easier.
To enable this feature, go to Settings > Accessibility > Touch and turn on Easy Access. Once the feature is activated, simply perform a light double-tap on the home button. The top half of the screen will then drop down to the bottom half, making it easier to navigate with one hand. To return to the normal view, tap the top half again or double-tap the Home button.
