Fix these Apple iPhone 14 bugs with iOS 16.0.3
The iPhone 14 still has a number of more or less annoying bugs. iOS 16.0.3 fixes some of them.
The iPhone 14 is less than a month old and, as usual, suffers from a number of bugs. If you purchased it, you may have the update installed at startup. Since then, Apple has been hard at work fixing other issues that the iOS 16.0.2 update doesn’t support. This is where iOS 16.0.3 comes into play.
Apple iOS 16.0.3 is not an exclusive update. This can be understood from its simple nomenclature. The biggest updates are numbered first (example: iOS 16), they only happen once a year, and they introduce a lot of new features. Also, there are smaller versions (like iOS 16.1) that aren’t as revolutionary, but may add some features. Finally, updates like iOS 16.0.3 usually contain important bug fixes that can’t wait for a larger update like iOS 16.1.
What’s new in iOS 16.0.3?
This update is important for users of the latest iPhone models, namely the iPhone 14, 14 Plus, 14 Pro, and 14 Pro Max. Apple lists specific fixes, including issues with notifications, low microphone volume, and sluggish cameras. There doesn’t seem to be a fix for Crash Detection calling 911 when riding a roller coaster.
It’s not just the iPhone 14 that’s affected, though. Every iPhone running iOS 16 will get the update today, starting with the iPhone 8. The 16.0.3 update also fixes an issue with Mail causing the app to crash “on startup after receiving an invalid email.”In addition, the latter fixes a security flaw affecting Mail: prior to 16.0.3, you could no longer use Mail or your entire iPhone by opening an email containing certain malware. With this update, your iPhone will be protected from this vulnerability.
How to update iPhone to iOS 16.0.3
Updating your iPhone to iOS 16.0.3 is very easy. Go to Settings > General > Software Updates, then ask iOS to check for updates. When it’s available, follow the on-screen instructions to download and install it.
If you have auto-update turned on, your iPhone will eventually update itself. However, this may take a few weeks, but it looks like Apple is trying to speed up the installation of automatic security updates in order to protect as many iPhones as possible. That being said, the fastest way to install iOS 16.0.3 is to do it manually.
