Kaamelott – Part One: Planned for a long cut, but no new scenes

Alexandre Astier announces that a possible long version of the first part of the Kaamelott trilogy will not be in cinema to fill in any gaps.

During a fan meeting, French film director Alexandre Astier mentioned the possibility of offering a long version of the first feature film about the new adventures of the Knights of the Round Table in the near future: “This long version can exist, yes. It may indeed exist one day. On the other hand, there are no cutscenes in this long version. Yes, there must be one. But this is primarily an enrichment of what already exists. Maybe more lines, more details, more bullshit from time to time. The long version will, in my opinion, be quite tasty, because it will add two or three good things. But this will in no way fix what you found to be too short. If you found them too short, it’s because I made them too short, that’s all. ”

Artur Pendragon’s translator also clarified that he was not pressured by M6’s Société nouvelle de Distribution (SND) to cut out certain scenes, while several time ellipses present in Kaamelott – Premier Volet were deemed too fast by critics: “I released a two hour version because it’s dynamic, because it has a twist. It goes fast, because at two o’clock Arthur’s journey is really rich. He leaves the depths of Arabia to arrive in his country, bypassing all his former clans, Aquitaine, Angers, Gaun, etc. It must be a little boring, because there is much to tell about what is happening and what should have happened for ten year absence. Therefore, a dense film is inevitably obtained. ”
