How to activate or quickly change items in Sons of the Forest

In this game, you cannot quickly change items or press hotkeys in the traditional sense. There is no mini-menu on the screen that shows keyboard shortcuts for items, like in most other games of this genre. But in return, Sons of the Forest lets you use your bag as an alternative.
