How to find and defeat a fugitive in Hogwarts Legacy

There is so much to explore and discover in Hogwarts Legacy, and one of the things to find and defeat is the Runaway. You won’t have to travel far to find it. You must have already seen smaller versions of it, the normal spiders you encounter, but this one is really different and bigger. Let’s find out how to defeat this boss in Hogwarts Legacy.

How to find and defeat a fugitive in Hogwarts Legacy

To start the quest that will lead you to fight Absconder, head to Aranshir Village. This area is south of Hogsmeade Station near the bridge. Here you need to talk to Edgar Adli. After talking to him, you will receive the quest “Encounter with the Fugitive”and you will be tasked with returning his friend’s family pocket watch.

Where to find a fugitive

First, make sure you have Confringo and/or Incendio, as spiders are very weak to fire. This will greatly facilitate access to the Abconder, as well as to him. Absconder’s lair can be found on the north side of the map at the edge of the Forbidden Forest. The closest fireplace flame fast travel point to this location is North Ford Swamp.

If you make your way here on foot, you’ll need to fight off a few spiders before you get to Absconder. On top of that, you can also use your broom to fly straight to his lair and avoid fighting other spiders.

How to fight and defeat a fugitive

The Absconder is considered a notorious enemy, which means he is difficult to deal with. If you can’t deal much damage or come close to defeating him, consider leveling up and getting better gear.

The most important thing to watch out for when fighting Absconder is his unblockable lunge attack. This attack may seem easy to dodge at first, but you should keep in mind that Absconder will unpredictably add more of these attacks. He can attack up to three times in a row.

You can also use the large rock in the center of the arena as cover. But still, you should be ready to dodge and block the attacks of other lesser spiders while trying to defeat the Absconder.

Return to Edgar with an heirloom pocket watch

After you defeat Absconder, head north of the cave where you will notice an entrance surrounded by cobwebs. Cast a fire spell on him to get rid of him, and also destroy three spider eggs. Make sure you destroy these eggs, as if you don’t, Venomous hatchlings will spawn from them.

Once you enter it, go to the back of this cave where you can see a treasure chest. The heirloom pocket watch will be on the ground in front of this chest.

After returning to Edgar Adly, you will have several options for how you want it to end. There are two main options to choose from and they will slightly change the rewards you get for this Absconder quest:

• The first option is to simply return the family pocket watch to him. Edgar will thank you for completing this task and that it means a lot to him. He will then reward you with 300 galleons for this quest.
• The second option is to ask for a reward and offer to simply sell the watch for a better reward. This will make Edgar think you are being selfish and will comment on your selfishness. But this will result in a better reward of 500 galleons.

These two options don’t have any real consequences other than the other dialogue you can get from Edgar Adley. So feel free to choose what you want based on how you want to portray your character.
