How to Mute Someone on Instagram from iPhone
I acknowledge it. I love scrolling through Instagram. But I have a couple of people in my account with whom I do not want to be in the know. I mean unfollowing them is a bad idea (they’ll find out!). What if I could just turn them off on Instagram and not get any updates about their existence? Sounds great! In this post, I will show you three ways to disable someone on Instagram from iPhone.
What happens if you mute someone on Instagram?
When you disable people’s Instagram accounts, you won’t receive notifications for their updates, stories, or posts. However, you can still visit their profiles and check their posts. Instagram will notify you if this person tags you in a post or comments on your name somewhere. Instagram, however, does not notify the person whose account you have muted.
How to Mute Someone on Instagram from iPhone
Let’s look at a few easy ways to disable Instagram accounts.
Mute audio via Instagram feed
- Open the Instagram app on your iPhone.
- Scroll to the person’s message.
- Touch the three dots next to the person’s pen.
- Select Hide. A pop-up window will appear.
- Select “Mute”(account name) → select “Mute messages”or “Mute messages and history”according to your preferences.
That’s all. The person concerned has been disabled and henceforth Instagram will not provide you with any updates from this account. The interested person will not know about your gesture either.
Mute your Instagram stories
- Open the Instagram app.
- Scroll down to the person’s history.
- Long press on history. You will see two options.
- Click Mute. A pop-up window will appear.
- Mute the sound according to your preferences. Either mute the story; or both posts and stories.
It’s easy, isn’t it? But what if the person hasn’t posted or shared stories for a while? Here’s how you can turn them off.
Disable Instagram account from your profile
- Open the Instagram app.
- Find the person’s profile.
- Click the Subscriptions dropdown button.
- Click Mute.
- Mute the sound according to your preferences. Use the toggle button to mute stories, messages, or both.
After turning off the sound, you will see their stories.
Enabling an Instagram account is easy. Here’s how you do it.
How to Enable Instagram Account on iPhone
- Open the Instagram app.
- Find the person’s profile.
- Click the Subscriptions dropdown button.
- Click Mute.
- Use the toggle button to unmute stories, messages, or both.
An alternative option is to simply long-press on the gray story (story without sound) and press “Unmute”.
