How to Transfer All Your Google Contacts to iCloud Using iPhone or Computer

Switching from Android to iPhone? This guide will cover the easiest ways to transfer all your Google contacts to your Apple iCloud account using your iPhone or computer.

Can I sign in to my Google Contacts account on my iPhone?

Definitely! You can go to iPhone Settings > Contacts > Accounts > Add Account > Google > Sign in to your Google Account > make sure Contacts is enabled > Save. After that, all your Google contacts will appear in the iOS Contacts app. Any changes you make here will be synced and displayed across all devices. This approach is ideal if you plan on using an iPhone and an Android phone at the same time.

However, if you’re moving from Android to iPhone, or just don’t want your contacts stored in Google but in iCloud, you can easily transfer them using the method below.

How to Transfer Google Contacts to iCloud with iPhone

1) Make sure you’re signed into iCloud on your iPhone and contacts are enabled. To check this, go to the Settings app > your name > iCloud > Show All. Here, the switch next to the contacts should be green. If not, enable it now.

2) Visit contact.google.com in Safari on iPhone and sign in with your Google account.

3) Tap on the three lines icon at the top left and select the Export option.

4) With all contacts selected, check vCard (for iOS contacts) and click “Export”.

5) Click “Allow”if prompted.

6) After that you will see one of the contacts open on the screen. Click the Share button and select Contacts on the iOS Share sheet.

7) Click Add All N Contacts > Add All N Contacts > Create New Contacts.

That’s all. You have successfully added your contacts stored in your Google/Gmail account to the Contacts app on your iPhone.

Because you’re already signed in to iCloud, these contacts will be uploaded to your iCloud account in the background. You can check this by logging into iCloud.com in a web browser and selecting “Contacts”. You can also open the Contacts app on another iPhone, iPad, or Mac and look for those newly added contacts there.

Import Google Contacts to iCloud Contacts Using Mac or PC

1) Visit contact.google.com on your computer’s web browser and sign in to your Google/Gmail account if not already done.

2) Click “Export”on the left sidebar, select vCard (for iOS contacts) and click the “Export”button. It will download the file. vcf to your computer.

3) Then visit iCloud.com and sign in with your Apple ID and password.

4) After that select Contacts.

5) Click the gear settings icon in the bottom left corner and select “Import vCard”.

6) Now select the contact.vcf file you downloaded in step 2 and click Download.

iCloud will download this VCF file and add all your contacts to itself. These newly added iCloud contacts will soon appear on all your Apple devices where you use this Apple ID and have the Contacts toggle turned on.

Note. If you’re on a Mac, you can simply double-click the downloaded contact.vcf file (after step 2 above) and a pop-up will appear asking you to add all of its contacts to the Contacts app. Click “Add”and these contacts are now added to your Mac’s Contacts app. From there, they will be uploaded to iCloud and synced to all your other Apple devices. However, if you have several hundred contacts in your VCF file, I recommend using the iCloud web method above.
