How to get and use skill cards in Dead Island 2
As you play Dead Island 2, you will receive various skill cards. These are something you shouldn’t ignore because they are very important as they determine how combat works for you in this game. But it can be a little confusing as there are so many to choose from. So here’s a quick guide on what they are and how they work.
How to get skill cards in Dead Island 2
You can get skill cards mainly by progressing through the game and leveling up. But apart from that, you can also find these cards during side missions or while exploring the game world. These are the only two ways to get these cards in the game. Basically, there are 5 types of these cards: Innate, Abilities, Survivor, Assassin, and Numen cards.
Here’s what you should know about them.
What are skill cards?
As mentioned earlier, there are 5 skill cards. Innate cards are unique to your assassin. While the other 4 cards affect how you fight and the effects of the different attacks you use. Of these 5, you can only collect cards for the last 4.
- Innate Skills: Unique passive skills that your Slayer already has. For example, Amy regains stamina when she hits a zombie with a weapon throw.
- Abilities: These are your primary combat abilities. These cards give you the following abilities.
- Defense Skill: Includes skills such as dodge and block.
- Jump Skill: The attack effect of your jump kick.
- Special Ability: This determines your special attacks, such as dash and slam, warcry, or ground slam.
- Rage Skill Slot: This determines what your Rage skill will be: Blood Tide, Surgical Trick, Street Brawler, and Serve Cold.
- Fury Skill Attack Slot: A special attack that you can use when your Fury Mode is on.
- Survivor: These cards work as passives for your ability cards. You can add one survivor card for each skill: defense, jump, special skill, and rage. They give you passive effects like health regeneration, speed boost, attack speed and more.
- Assassin: These cards again work like passives, but are more focused on providing benefits when using certain types of attacks. For example, you get a damage boost for injuring enemies.
- Numen: These are the cards you reveal at the end of the game.
