How to Delete Spam on Your iPhone Calendar

If your iPhone starts showing you events that have nothing to do with you on your calendar, you may have “subscribed”to a spam calendar. It may be scary at first glance, but it is absolutely not dangerous. It’s also very easy to unsubscribe once you know how to proceed.

How calendar spam starts

Surely you have ever visited the site to see a message like “Your phone is infected, CLEAN IT NOW.”If you click the wrong button on such a site, you may be taken to a timeline containing links to phishing or malicious sites. The calendar itself is harmless, but usually offers links they might be. If you don’t click on it, you won’t have any problems. However, you will still see these alerts on your calendar regularly.

How to Delete Spam Calendar from Your iPhone

In most cases, this spam targets the native Calendar app on your iPhone. Open it and tap the Calendars button in the bottom corner of the screen. Then delete any calendars you don’t recognize by unchecking them. You can also delete them completely by clicking the i button next to the calendar, scrolling down and clicking Delete Calendar.

You may not be able to delete calendars associated with your Gmail or Outlook accounts using this method. To remove them completely, you must open the respective applications and continue working with those applications. For example, the Google Calendar app allows you to delete Gmail calendars.

To avoid receiving spam calendars again, be careful with pop-ups on websites. When you accidentally touch it, iOS will try to protect you by asking if you really want to add a new instance to your calendar. Pay attention to the text in the appeared window about the refusal of the operation.
